DESERT ROSE WELCOMES YOU TO JOIN THEM ON THEIR JOURNEY OF CREATING AND PERFORMING MUSIC TO ESTABLISH A SOCIETY OF HEALING, SPIRITUALITY AND COMMON HUMANITY

Desert Rose are one of the leading composers of world music in South Africa and the leading composers, producers and performers of crossover world music with a focus on showcasing cultural and faith diversity through music. Found in 1999 by composer and music director, Lynne Holmes, the company has produced 11 albums within the world music and deep relaxation genres. 4 of their albums were chosen as "Critics Choice" by Musica in 2009 and 2010 as their album "Silence of the Music' was given a 5 star rating by mainstream media in South Africa in September 2010. Their Sufi Arabic albums are currently distributed in the UK, Turkey and Malaysia.

In 2008 Desert Rose started their live performance group performing to 2000 people in Cape Town after being invited because of their CD, The Prayer, being voted CD of the year on VOC Radio. Since then they have performed all over South Africa at major social causes events such as Mandela Day, Human Rights Day, Launch of Charter for Compassion with Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Peace Day Commemoration, various multi faith celebration events in the major cities of South Africa.

In 2012 the group made their international debut with their Sufi African Vibrations UK Tour where they performed at the world renowned "St Ethelburgas Centre for Peace and Reconciliation, London" to standing ovations. In 2012 and 2013 they performed as the headliner act at the annual "Malam Melayu" at the Georgetown Festival in the island of Penang, Malaysia.

in 2013 the group successfully toured Singapore and Malaysia in April and June respectively, performing at the annual international  'Tapestry of Sacred Music Festival" in Singapore at the Esplanade Theatre and headlining the annual 'Malam Melayu" at the state theatre, Sri Dewan Penang. in Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia.

Current plans are underway for Desert Rose to represent the South African Faith Communities at Cop19 in Warsaw, Poland in November 2013.
